Our outdoor area, “Wildseeland”, is the part of the park that turns the visitor’s gaze from the tropics towards the Three Lakes Region. Here, the focus is on native biodiversity and on the animals and plants that can be found right on our doorstep.

Before Papiliorama arrived, the outdoor grounds were intensively cultivated farmland. Parts of the area have since been restored to a more natural state and now include, among other habitats, dry and wetland biotopes. The ever-changing history of this region has many stories to tell – and, unfortunately, has also been accompanied by a loss of natural habitats. We have restored some of these habitats on our grounds, creating a place where native species can once again find a home.
